Maura Flood

Maura Flood is the director of creative spaces and special projects at the Art Institute of Chicago. In this role, she leads the design of installations and art-making programs for family audiences in the Ryan Learning Center.

Inspired by creativity across all ages, Maura’s practice explores experiential and play-based learning. Since joining the Art Institute in 2013, Maura has produced many innovative learning projects including Re:Imagine Teen Overnight Design Competition (2014–16), A Tale of Three Cities: A Teen-Produced, Online Art Course (2016), The Teen Audio Guide (2017), and Art + Science: Horse of Different Color (2023). In addition to her work at the museum, Maura recently launched Kid Cal, an illustrated activity calendar for children.

Maura holds an MEd in art education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
